Midland Commercial Development Corp. proudly traces its origins to the early days of Redmond Commercial Development Corp. when in 1993 Steve Rolfe joined Mark Redmond as a partner in his newly formed development company. In the years that followed, Redmond Commercial Development Corp. and its successors, have gone on to become one of Walgreen’s top preferred developers in the country.  

Midland’s principals share a vast wealth of experience working with all levels of government, assessing and identifying environment and engineering challenges, designing, and delivering complex projects in a timely, cost-effective manner. Our combined expertise lies not only in the ability to manage our own development projects from inception through completion, but also in providing these services for other owners looking for a full-service development partner.

Steven J. Rolfe  |  Principal/President

Steve's real estate career began 27 years ago as a commercial mortgage banker in Chicago. In 1993, Steve joined Mark Redmond as a partner in his newly formed development company, Redmond Commercial Development Corp., part of the growing family of Redmond Companies.  Since those early days, Steve has been involved in developing more than 1,800,000 square feet of commercial real estate across 4 states, including over 90 Walgreens stores. Responsibilities, both past and present, include fostering tenant relationships, site selection, analyzing project feasibility and risk, obtaining necessary government approvals, and procuring construction and permanent mortgage financing. Steve holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Iowa.

Jim is a goal-oriented management professional with over 25 years experience assisting Redmond’s development customers in preparing economic feasibility analysis, real estate pro formas, and financial projections for over three million square feet of real estate developments. These projects have involved lease negotiations and development for some of the nation’s top retail tenants, additionally, Jim has worked with international industrial tenants in leasing, development, and consulting.






Martin D. Steinert  |  Principal

Marty meets with clients to fully understand their growth goals and objectives. He has completed hundreds of market research projects for many of our financial and retail clients helping clients to identify optimal markets, locations, and sites. He handles all demographic research, due diligence, and planning and zoning, in respect to the needs, goals and values of prospective clients before any contract is signed.






Tony Sgarlata | Senior Project Development Manager

Prior to joining The Redmond Company / Midland Commercial Development in 2015, Tony worked as a Senior Attorney in Walgreen Co.'s Law Department from 1985 to 1998 and then as a Senior Real Estate Manager in Walgreens's Real Estate Department from 1998 until his retirement from Walgreens in 2014. Tony handled hundreds of real estate transactions during his tenure at Walgreens during their growth period.

Tony's responsibilities at The Redmond Company / Midland Commercial Development include market planning for business clients; site identification and acquisition; portfolio management; and developing and fostering landlord-tenant relationships.
